Our Story
I’ve never been a robe guy—and most of the guys I know aren’t either. Robes always felt a little too... familiar? Creepy? But my wife loves hers. Every morning she’s wrapped in cozy bliss, while I’m standing there thinking, “Where’s my version of that?”
One day in the shower, the idea hit me like a lightning bolt. Robes haven’t changed in centuries. They’re all basically the same, and none of them feel like they’re made for guys like me. Then I saw my hoodie hanging next to a towel and thought, “I’d wear a towel if it looked like that.” Boom. I ran out, grabbed some towels from Walmart, brought them to my tailor Josè, and said, “Can you turn these into a hoodie and sweatpants?” A week later, I was wearing the first ever DudeRobe prototype.
After a bunch of prototypes and a lot of feedback from friends, I launched a Kickstarter to test the idea. We hit our goal in two days, raised nearly $70K, and even caught the attention of Shark Tank. The original DudeRobes shipped just before we aired—and the response was insane.
Since then, the mission has been clear: redesign the robe for dudes and dudettes who never thought they’d wear one. Now we’ve got robes, hoodies, shorts, and pants all made with the same incredible WeekendBlend™ Fabric.
